Make-belief

If everything that was said led to us just being okay, how would that make us sane?
If everything that was forgotten be left for our shame, how would that be deranged?
Like the unbearable existence of the way we fought.
Like the way we sought to be more than what we needed to be.
Together it could be done.
With one another we could pretend to be all that we've ever perceived.
But when two hearts falter, left to pivot on where to go next...
That's when the make-belief sets in.
